Ramakrishna Mission Dhaleswar Sub Centre

Activities
Started on 11 September 1996, the sub-centre had the following service programmes during
the year:
Regular activities
Spiritual programme
a) Daily Worship and evening prayer at the shrine.
b) Ramnam Sankirtan on Ekadashi days at the shrine.
c) Regular discourses at the Natmandir of the shrine 4 days a week.
d) A boys hostel of 23 students (S.T – 8, S.C. – 4, Gen – 8 and OBC – 3).
d) Musti Bhiksha (handful of alms): The rice collected through Musti Bhiksha was utilized for the sub-centre.
Religious Discourses
a) Regular weekly religious discourses at the prayer hall on Mondays, Wednesdays,
Thursdays and Sundays. Sunday discourses were attended by about 500 devotees and
admirers on each occasion.
b) The Showroom for Ramakrishna–Vivekananda and Vedanta Literature was in regular
operation.
Like previous years, this year also we participated in Agartala Book Fair 2017 at Agartala,
from 14 February to 25 February 2016 on behalf of Udbodhan Office, Kolkata. Every day our stall was crowded with visitors. A good number of new faces are becoming admirers of Mission’s ideology as it was felt from the rush on crowd who have visited our stall this year also.

Celebrations

Celebrations
Bengali New Year : Puja and Homa were held on 15-04-2016 in the morning at Dhaleswar
Shrine. There was special discourse by the Secretary in the afternoon at Gangail Road, to
commemorate this occasion. It was attended by about 300 devotees and admirers, and the same in
the evening at Dhaleswar campus was attended by about 500.
Shankar Jayanti : It was observed with discourse on the life and teachings of Bhagwan Adi
Shankaracharya by Swami Nityakrishnananda on 11 May 2016 at Dhaleswar Campus before a
gathering of about 300 devotees.
Buddha Jayanti: Buddha Jayanti was observed with discourse by Swami Adwitiyananda on
the life and teachings of Buddha on 21 May 2016 at Dhaleswar Campus, which was attended by
about 200 devotees. On this occasion, an interfaith Seminar was conducted at our Gangail Road
Multipurpose Hall in collaboration IARF (International Association for Religious Freedom), Tripura
Chapter, in which about 150 listeners were present.
Shodashi Puja was observed on 04-06-2016 with special puja and homa after evening arati
at the shrine of Dhaleswar Sub-Centre.

Snanayatra was observed on 20-06-2016 with special puja in the morning at the shrine of
Dhaleswar Sub-Centre.
Guru Purnima (Birthday of Vyasadeva) was observed on 19-07-2016. About 300 devotees
attended the Puja, Puspanjali and Homa in the morning and about 500 devotees attended the evening
discourse conducted by the Secretary.
Janmastami (Birthday of Sri Krishna) and Kathamo Puja (worship of wooden base of
the structure of the image of Devi Durga) were observed on 25-08-2016 at our Dhaleswar campus.
About 300 devotees attended the Puja and Puspanjali in the morning and about 350 devotees
attended the evening discourse on the life and message of Sri Krishna delivered by the Secretary.

Durga Puja :
As in previous years, Durga Puja was held this year also with due solemnity,
enthusiasm and joy at Dhaleswar campus of Viveknagar centre from 07 October to 11
October 2016. A large number of people attended the Puja on all the days. About 11,000
people assembled to witness the Kumari Puja on the Astami Day. More than 8,000
devotees took cooked Prasad in plates on the Astami Day.
Lakshmi Puja :
Lakshmi Puja was held with devotion and fervor at the centre’s Dhaleswar campus
on 15 October 2016 evening. About 200 devotees took Prasad in hand.
Kali Puja :
Kali Puja was held this year also with devotion and solemnity at the centre’s
Dhaleswar campus on 29 October 2016. About 700 devotees attended the Puja up to
10.00 p.m., and about 1000 devotees took cooked Prasad in hand after the Puja was over.
Birth-Tithi of the Holy Mother Sarada Devi was observed on 20 December 2016
with devotion and spiritual fervour along with puja, homa, devotional songs, readings and
discourse at Dhaleswar complex. About 7,000 devotees were served with cooked Prasad in
plates at noon. Cultural Programs by school students on life and message of Holy Mother
comprising music, recitation, reading, speeches, etc. followed by public meeting were
conducted at Dhaleswar campus from 9.30 am to 5.15 pm. separate discourse on life and
message of Holy Mother was held at Gangail Road after evening Aratrika and at
Viveknagar complex in the morning.
The attendance in the discourses at Dhaleswar, Gangail Road and Viveknagar were
about 1000, 500 and 200 respectively.
Christmas Eve was observed on 24 December 2016 at Viveknagar and Dhaleswar.
At Viveknagar Math temple the programme was held after evening arati and was
attended by our students, members of the staff and people of the neighboring localities
totaling about 350 in number.

Cultural Programmmes on life and message of Swami Vivekananda comprising
music, recitation, reading, etc. followed by public meeting were conducted at Dhaleswar
campus from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm.
Special programme was held at Viveknagar temple in the morning for the staff and
the hostel students of the Vidyalaya and trainees of the Industrial Training Institute.

 

Birthday of Sri Ramakrishna was observed on 05 March 2017 with special puja,
homa, processions, devotional songs at Dhaleswar campus. Cooked Prasad was
distributed to about 8,000 devotees. Processions, organized mainly by two local Private
Ashramas, with about 500 participants from various points of the city, reached
Dhaleswar campus at about 7.15 a.m.
Special program was held at Viveknagar temple in the morning for the staff and the
hostel students of the Vidyalaya and trainees of the Industrial Training Institute.
Spiritual and cultural program by artists, including students, on life and message
of Sri Ramakrishna comprising music, recitation etc. followed by public meeting were
conducted at Dhaleswar campus from 9.30 am to 5.15 pm.
Discourse on life and message of Sri Ramakrishna were held at Gangail Road after
evening Aratrika.
On 05 March 2017, public celebration in connection with Sri Ramakrishna’s
Birthday
was held at Viveknagar with usual day-long program that included
(i) morning procession, (ii) special puja, homa, (iii) devotional songs, instrumental
music, readings from Ramakrishna Punthi and various religious scriptures and (iv)
distribution of cooked Prasad.
The special event of the celebration.

The special event of the celebration was Ramakrishna Mela with about 300 stalls,
which drew a large crowd. About 8,000 devotees were served with cooked Prasad in plates
at noon. The event of day-long reading program from various scriptures and biographies
of saints of major religions of the world was, as usual, highly appreciated. The weather
was clear and pleasant. Students, members of the staff with their family members,
devotees and admirers attended the morning procession which started at 6.30 a.m.
A drama Yugavatar Sri Ramakrishna was performed by Sri Sri Ramakrishna
Ashrama, Khowai.
Observance of National Youth Day :
National Youth Day was observed by Ramakrishna Mission, Agartala on 12 January 2017 at
Vivek Udyan, located at Agartala Town, in collaboration with Vivek Udyan Sanrakshan Samity, Agartala, and Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal, Agartala. The programme included a Torch procession and a rally at Vivek Udyan in Agartala at the feet of the bronze statue of Swamiji at 8.00 a.m. on 12 January 2017. Several dignitaries addressed the rally comprising 1,200 students and 500 citizens. Sri Manik Sarkar, Chief Minister of Tripura (Inaugurator) and Dr. Prafullajit Sinha, Mayor, Agartala Municipal Council, Sri M.K. Nath, Director Secondary Education, attended as Chief Guest and Special Guest respectively.
Swami Hitakamananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Agartala, presided over the
programme. Sri Kanai Lal Das, President, Vivek Udyan Sanrakshan Samity, gave the address of welcome. Swami Praneswarananda offered the vote of thanks.

Welfare Activities

The Students’ Home offered free food, accommodation, garments, text books and other study

materials to its 23 students (S.T – 9, S.C. – 3, Gen -9 and OBC –2) during the year.

Medical Service Centre The Medical Service Centre (MSC) extended X-ray, E.C.G., Pathological investigations, Medical OPD, Eye, ENT, Specialists’ consultancy facilities to 37,480 patients in total [O.P.D. patients 12,618, E.C.G. patients 1,395, X-ray patients 6,849, Lab. Test patients 10,208,

Homoeopathic patients (free) 884, Ayurvedic patients (free) 67 free cases, free treatment and free

medicines 5,459]. Relief Works Distress Relief The Centre distributed 185 sets of children’s garments, 20 dhotis and 140 saris on the eve of Durga Puja among the distressed of the neighbouring  areas. Winter Relief The Centre distributed 300 blankets among poor and distressed people of the state during December 2016 and January 2017 (Jirania, Mandai, Khyerpur and Bodhjongnagar, West Tripura District).

Devotees’ Conference

Dhaleswar Sub-Center assisted in organizing a Devotees’ Conference for West Tripura

District by Tripura Ramakrishna Vivekananda Bhava Prachar Parishad on 1st May 2016 at the

Nazrul Kalakhatra, Agartala which was attended by 780 devotees and admirers. Swami

Hitakamananda, Swami Bibhatmananda and Swami Praneswarananda and Prof. Shanta Sen

addressed the conference.

Dhaleswar Sub-Center organized a Devotees’ Conference which was held on 17-08-2016 at

the Universal Prayer hall attended by 204 Devotees and admirers (M –74, F – 130)
